PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The East Valley was hit with another round of storms after the National Weather Service issued a severe storm warning for parts of Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, and other areas on Monday afternoon.
The showers and storms came from the south and moved northeastward. Heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail are possible.
Trees were down in Tempe as 20,000 APS and SRP customers were without power.
The Valley continues to be under the threat of flash flooding, as severe thunderstorms are rolling through the Phoenix metro area on Monday afternoon.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for south-central Arizona through this evening. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will bring heavy rain to the state, and the risk of flash flooding remains an issue this evening. These storms could bring over an inch of rain to the Valley this evening, with wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and hail possible.
Over the last three days, many Valley locations picked up over two inches of rain. Some spots in the East Valley even got over four inches of rain!
By tomorrow, drier air will move into the state, with more sunshine in the forecast. Temps will be below average this week, in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
