PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — In the lead-up to a high-profile fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago headlined by former President Donald Trump, Palm Beach residents can expect the sounds of simulated gunfire and a surge in law enforcement activity.
The Town of Palm Beach announced on Monday that the activity is part of the federal and local agencies conducting training exercises near the estate.
On October 14 in the evening and October 15 in the daytime, the U.S. Secret Service, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and Palm Beach Police Department will carry out routine training drills at Mar-a-Lago, which may include simulated gunfire and a visible law enforcement presence in the surrounding area.
These preparations come ahead of a $1 million-per-person fundraiser scheduled at the club.
While no road closures are planned during the exercises, sidewalks near the complex and the Southern Boulevard Bridge parking area will be temporarily closed. The drills are not open to the public or media and are not expected to disrupt daily activities.

Also, beginning Friday, October 17, at 5 a.m., South Ocean Boulevard (SR A1A) will be closed between South County Road and Southern Boulevard (SR 80). This closure will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents are encouraged to review procedures related to the road closure, including checkpoint operations, adjusted bridge opening schedules, and temporary marine security zones, available on the Town’s Planned Traffic Impacts webpage.
