ATP Vienna Day 2 Predictions Including Zverev vs Fearnley

The Austrian capital of Vienna consistently hosts one of the most competitive ATP 500 events of this year. 2025 is no different, with eight of the top 16 players in the world competing for the title. Day 2 features some scintillating matchups including Alexander Zverev vs Jacob Fearnley and Lorenzo Musetti vs Stefanos Tsitsipas. As always, we here at LWOT offer our preview and prediction for all matches on the slate. But who will advance?

ATP Vienna Day 2 Predictions

Alex Michelsen vs Francisco Cerundolo

Head-to-Head: Michelsen 1-0 Cerundolo

21-year-old Alex Michelsen, currently No. 34 in the world, is right on the cusp of being seeded at the 2026 Australian Open. He will be motivated to end his season with a few strong results to get a number by his name in Melbourne. He gets a tricky first round encounter at ATP Vienna against World No. 21 Francisco Cerundolo. The 27-year-old is amidst the best season of his career but has struggled of late, having not won back-to-back matches since the Canadian Masters. This will be a fun match to watch, but I give the slight edge to Michelsen and his serving prowess.

Prediction: Michelsen in 3rd

Camilo Ugo Carabelli vs Filip Misolic

Head-to-Head: Misolic 2-1 Ugo Carabelli

In a draw littered with highly-ranked first round battles, No. 50 Camilo Ugo Carabelli and No. 95 Filip Misolic should sense a terrific opportunity to reach the second round (and beyond) at ATP Vienna. They split their two encounters this season; both straight-set victories on the clay. Misolic, a wildcard in Vienna, has not won an ATP main draw match since mid-July. He has just a single ATP hard-court victory, but should be motivated to play in front of his home crowd. Ugo Carabelli has also struggled of late, posting a 2-7 record since the start of the North American hard-court swing. Something must give on Tuesday. I’ll ride with the Austrian.

Prediction: Misolic in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Jacob Fearnley

Head-to-Head: Zverev 3-0 Fearnley

No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev gets his ATP Vienna campaign underway under the center court lights against qualifier Jacob Fearnley. It is the third meeting between the two this year; Zverev is yet to drop a set. In his first full season on Tour, the former TCU Horned Frog has proven he is a Top 100 player. His ceiling, however, is a different question. Fearnley is 1-6 against Top 20 players in his career and does not currently possess the weapons to hit through the best in the sport. While Zverev’s season has not been up to his standards, he is still the third ranked player in the world. He should roll.

Prediction: Zverev in 2
