Showers, thunderstorms in the mix for Las Vegas area

A couple of storms moving in this week will bring unsettled weather to the area.

TODAY: We’ll see some regional showers in Southern Nevada on Wednesday. Our next weather maker is low pressure moving into the West Coast, generating showers and a few isolated thunderstorms.

We’ll see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies in Las Vegas with high temperatures reaching around 81 degrees this afternoon. Regional showers will be possible today with the best chances of active weather in the mountains. While a few showers will be possible, the valley will mainly see virga due to such dry weather at the surface, causing raindrops to evaporate before hitting the ground. Winds overall will be light, up to 10 mph.

Air quality is ranked ‘good’ with ‘moderate’ weed pollen in Clark County. The most common pollens today are ragweed, sage & wormwood.

TONIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear this evening with overnight valley lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Winds will be light, out of the west up to 10 mph. Another swipe of showers will be possible, mainly north of the valley overnight into early Thursday morning as the storm clears out to the east.

WHAT’S NEXT: Pleasant weather is in the forecast Thursday & Friday with valley highs near 80 degrees.

Our next weather maker is a storm system brewing in the Gulf of Alaska, taking aim at the Pacific Northwest next. This incoming system will bring winds back to Southern Nevada Saturday & Sunday with wind gusts 20-30 mph.

Valley highs will back down to the upper 70s on Sunday with temperatures falling further at the start of next week.

High pressure builds in next with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s NEXT Tuesday through Friday.

HALLOWEEN: An early look at your Halloween forecast shows mostly clear skies with Trick-Or-Treat temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
