The Milwaukee Brewers‘ magical ride has come to an end.
While dreams are made in Hollywood, it was a nightmare for the Brewers, whose trip to Los Angeles followed a similar script in their National League Championship Series vs. the Dodgers.
It resulted in a humbling sweep at the hands of the reigning World Series champs after the Dodgers defeated the Brewers, 5-1, in Game 4 on Oct. 17 at Dodger Stadium.
Milwaukee set a franchise record in victories and had a historic winning streak during the regular season. The Brewers were the No. 1 seed in the National League with the most wins in 2025.
They beat the Dodgers six times and didn’t lose once. That was July, this is October. And the Dodgers were made for this moment. It’s where they shine.
The Brewers, on the other hand, looked like a shell of the team that made them so dynamic where no deficit was too big for them to overcome during the summer to remember.
In the 2025 NLCS, the Brewers were overmatched in every way by Dodgers pitchers — they managed just four total runs in four games — and they lacked the plate discipline that made them so tough in 2025. And while Milwaukee’s pitchers did all they could, in the end, they couldn’t hold off Shohei Ohtani and LA’s powerful, Hall of Fame lineup.
Too many of the Brewers’ stars disappeared while LA’s were leading men.
Milwaukee’s NL Division Series victory over the rival Chicago Cubs last week got the monkey off their back by winning a playoff series for the first time in seven years. But just six days later, reality set in as another painful drought continued.
That would be the World Series drought. Milwaukee’s last and only World Series appearance came in 1982.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, advance to the World Series for the second straight year and fifth time in nine years. Dave Roberts’ team will look to become the first team to win consecutive World Series titles in 25 years.
Here’s more on the Brewers in the playoffs, the NLCS schedule and upcoming World Series:
Are the Brewers done for the season?
Yes, the Brewers have been eliminated from the playoffs after being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Their 2025 season is over one series win short of the World Series.
Milwaukee lost the first two games of the NLCS to the Dodgers at American Family Field and then dropped the next two at Dodger Stadium to lose the series, 4-0.
When was the last time the Brewers made the World Series?
The 1982 season remains the last Brewers team to advance to a World Series.
And the Brewers have never won the Fall Classic. That 1982 team fell in the World Series in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
