Blue Jays announce ticket software issues resolved ahead of must-win Game 7

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that a ticket management issue caused by an Amazon cloud service outage has been resolved ahead of Game 7 of the American League Division Championship Series on Monday.

In an update on X, formerly Twitter, the team said services were returning to normal, but that additional staff will be on site for the game to assist with any ongoing ticket issues.

Ticketmaster, a go-to retailer for Jays tickets, was affected by the outage, according to the Jays’ social media.

“We are actively working with both groups to resolve the issue as soon as possible and will share an update in the coming hours,” the team said in their original post on X.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides things like data storage, computing power and other digital services to governments, businesses and individuals.

The company’s outage started early Monday morning and disrupted thousands of websites, including popular apps like Snapchat and Reddit. The root cause of the issue is still under investigation.

The outage lasted roughly three hours and AWS said in an update the issues were stemming from its US-EAST-1 Region, which is listed as Northern Virginia on the company’s website.

If the Jays win Monday’s game against Seattle, they will move on to play the Dodgers in the World Series. Blue Jays tickets for the World Series are expected to go on sale on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET on the team’s website.
