(1) - Pinch (n.) A lever having a projection at one end, acting as a fulcrum, -- used chiefly to roll heavy wheels, etc. Called also pinch bar. (2) - Pinch (n.) Pian; pang. (3) - Pinch (n.) As much as may be taken between the finger and thumb; any very small quantity; as, a pinch of snuff. (4) - Pinch (n.) (1) - Pinchbeck (a.) Made of pinchbeck; sham; cheap; spurious; unreal. (2) - Pinchbeck (n.) An alloy of copper and zinc, resembling gold; a yellow metal, composed of about three ounces of zinc to a pound of copper. It is much used as an imitation of gold in the manufacture of cheap jewelry. |
