Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been delayed on Nintendo Switch 2, and the game won’t be launching this year.
Originally, the plan was to have the title ready to go this year. But as we’re a couple of months before 2025 ends, the delay won’t come as much of a surprise.
In a statement, FromSoftware confirmed that it’s working on performance adjustments. The full statement from the company is as follows:
“Regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which was scheduled for release in 2025, we have determined that additional time is required for game performance adjustments, and we will therefore be changing the release to 2026. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to all users who have been looking forward to the release of this title. We will continue to make adjustments to deliver it in the best possible form, so we kindly ask for your understanding. Thank you very much for your patience.”
Elden Ring has previously been playable on Nintendo Switch 2 at different events like Gamescom. However, it has received criticism for its inconsistent frame rate. With the extra time, hopefully the team can work out the performance kinks.
We’ll let you know when we have a final release date for Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2. You can find some footage from the game running on Nintendo’s console here.
