However, the Knicks’ star center, Karl Anthony Towns, may not be available for the franchise in regular-season game No. 2 due to a nagging lower-body setback.

Is Karl-Anthony Towns playing tonight vs. the Celtics?

According to the official injury report for the Knicks vs. Celtics clash, Towns is listed as questionable with a right quad strain.

While Towns’ status for New York’s season-opening contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers was also questionable, the Kentucky product was a full participant in the early-season Eastern Conference battle.

Towns recorded 19 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes, shooting 41.7% from the field and 25% from three.

Thanks to valuable contributions from Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, Landry Shamet, and Tyler Kolek, the Knicks survived a third-quarter scoring barrage from Donovan Michell and escaped with a 119-111 victory.

Even if Towns is unable to play against the Celtics, the Knicks have enough firepower to exit Madison Square Garden with their second home victory of the year at the end of the night.

Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Prime Video.
