Fall Fun Festival – FA > On Fridaythe City of San Gabriel’s annual Fall Fun Festival pops up in the Mission District offering a range of family-friendly Halloween activities for all ages. Runs 5 to 9 p.m. and free to attend. More info here.
L.A. Dance Project -> L.A. Dance Project is back at The Wallis this Thursday to Saturday for a rare three-night run. Catch the U.S. premiere of the complete Triptych by choreographer Benjamin Millepied, featuring three pieces—Reflections, Hearts & Arrows, and On the Other Side—performed together for the first time. The evening is an artistic feast, set to music by Philip Glass and framed by visual designs from artists like Barbara Kruger and Mark Bradford. Tickets start as low as $42.90. Get more info here.
Halloween Movie Night at Ivy Station – M FA > Get into the Halloween spirit with a free outdoor screening of the ’80s classic, Beetlejuiceon the lawn at Ivy Station in Culver City this Friday. The lawn opens at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 7:30 p.m. Arrive early to grab complimentary popcorn and enjoy pre-show spooky tunes under the stars. Fourth Fridays in Long Beach – FA > Retro Row in Long Beach comes alive on the fourth Friday of the month with special pop-ups, live performances, and extended store hours from shops on 4th St between Temple and Cherry. Urban Death Tour of Terror at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre -> Continuing this Friday and SaturdayZombie Joe’s annual tradition of Urban Death is back with a brand new series of terrifying vignettes, bookended by walks through a creepy maze. Boo-ze Bites & Frights – M > The second weekend of Street Food Cinema’s Boo-ze Bites & Frights pops up at Heritage Square Museum this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, catch a double feature with Friday the 13th Part 2 and 3D, then Saturday brings Scream 2 and Scream 3 back-to-back. Both nights feature boozy bars, adult trick-or-treating, spooky house tours, a haunted trail with scare actors, and a costume contest. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. GA tickets start at $35. More info here.
Grand Ave Arts: All-Access – M FA TP > Dive into L.A.’s arts and culture scene this Saturday when Grand Ave Arts: All Access returns to Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. Now in its ninth year, this free community event invites Angelenos to explore DTLA’s cultural corridor and enjoy performances, workshops, and activities provided by 13 iconic L.A. cultural institutions. Spinning Sunset -> After a successful summer event, the Sunset Strip is reconvening Spinning on Sunset for a fall shindig this Saturday featuring DJ sets, haunted activations, seasonal sips, and giveaways (although details are still TBD). What we do know is that it will run from noon to 6 p.m. and be held in and around The Pink Dot More at 8495 W Sunset. Get info here as it becomes available.
Ananta, The Eternal at BroadStage -> This Saturday at BroadStage Santa Monica, Guggenheim Fellow and Doris Duke Award recipient Aparna Ramaswamy’s newest work—Ananta, The Eternal—weaves together threads of body, memory, desire, and devotion. Sisters and acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancers/choreographers Aparna Ramaswamy and Ashwini Ramaswamy come together for their first duet evening. More info and tickets available here.
Rocky Horror Night at Benny Boy – FA > Do the Time Warp this Saturday as Benny Boy Brewing hosts a special Rocky Horror Night! Celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary with live tunes by the Blow Brass Band playing all your spooky faves starting at 9 p.m. Arrive early to shop the Spooky Sketchmart (6 p.m. to midnight), enjoy bites for sale from BLK Crust Pizza, and compete in the costume contest for killer prizes. Japan Family Day -> One of the largest Japanese Family Festivals in SoCal, Japan Family Day brings two days of Japanese culture, entertainment, and food to Santa Anita Park this Saturday and Sunday. Fun for the entire family the festival runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both dates, and attendees can also catch the G3 Tokyo City Cup at the race track on Sunday. Tickets are $10. More info here.
Downtown Day of the Dead – M FA > Beginning this SaturdayGloria Molina Grand Park’s Downtown Día de los Muertos welcomes park-goers to contribute to a community altar, enjoy family-friendly activities, a free film screening, and the first Downtown Día de Muertos parade. Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party – M FA> One of Los Angeles’ most historic neighborhoods is throwing a 21+ block party for spooky season. T Free to attend, the party will feature live music, a full bar, costume contest, and food. More info here.
7th Annual Disability Pride Parade & Festival – FA > The 7th Annual Disability Pride Parade & Festival returns to the East L.A. Civic Center on Saturday. This event is open to the general public welcoming allies and supporters for a day of solidarity. Expect live entertainment, activities and opportunities to connect with local resources. Festival of Flight – FA > The annual Long Beach Airport Festival of Flight returns to the runway this Saturdayoffering a free celebration of local aviation history with aircraft on display, live music, kids’ activities, and food/beer for purchase. The P-22 Day Festival – FA > This Saturdaythe P-22 Day Festival returns to honor L.A.’s most famous big cat (may he rest in peace!) with a one day, family-friendly celebration in Griffith Park. Songs of Emerging Endangerment Opening Reception – M FA > This SaturdayClockshop is hosting an opening reception for “Songs of Emerging Endangerment,” a unique sound installation by artist TJ Shin on display at the Los Angeles State Historic Park this Saturday. Shin’s work maps global migration using the calls of endangered bird species—mimicked by over 50 participants—which are broadcast hourly via a 30-foot-tall air raid siren. As part of the opening, the artist will deliver a performance lecture at 2:45 p.m. Free to attend, but a $5 donation is suggested. Get more info here.

Boo At The Zoo -> On back-to-back weekends heading into Halloween, swing over to the Los Angeles Zoo for Boo at the Zooa family-friendly assortment of seasonal activities, including animal pumpkin feedings, themed photo ops, and trick-or-treating stations. Brewery Artwalk – FA – > The bi-annual Brewery Artwalk is back with a free two-day showcase of over 100 participating resident artists offering the public a chance to chat with makers, peruse new works, and shop direct from the artists themselves. Dia de los Muertos Family Day at LA Plaza – M FA > Día de los Muertos Family Day comes to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes this Sunday with an afternoon celebration featuring colorful performances, including traditional Oaxacan dances and a Catrina-comedy segment. Families can participate in free workshops like Alebrije painting and sugar skull cookie decorating, or contribute a photo to the Community Ofrenda. DTLA Halloween Block Party – M FA > Join DTLA Proud and Shops at 4th & Main this Sunday for their first-ever Halloween Block Party on Oct 26th! The event transforms into a living Tim Burton graveyard, featuring a ghostly DJ lineup, a deadly stage show by D’vils Whorehaus and She’s in Parties LA, food trucks, and over 20 queer vendors. “For the Love of Kewpie” Book Launch Party at OTOTO (October 26) -> On Sunday, OTOTO in Echo Park is throwing a party for For the Love of Kewpiea brand-new cookbook from Elyse Inamine and Jessie YuChen, celebrating 100 years of Japan’s favorite mayo. Expect a full-on Kewpie takeover of the OTOTO menu, featuring recipes from the book and playful riffs on Japanese comfort food. Both authors will be on-site from 6 to 8 p.m. signing books (available for purchase from Now Serving), and $20 tickets include a welcome pour of sake plus a limited-edition OTOTO x Kewpie keychain. Maple Block Meat Co.’s 10th Annual BlocktoberFest (October 26) -> Culver City’s favorite smokehouse celebrates 10 years of barbecue, beer, and community with its 10th Annual BlocktoberFest on Sunday. Feast on all-you-can-eat barbeque including ribs, tri-tip, brisket tacos, and classic sides for $55 (kids 10 and under eat free and get a pumpkin to decorate). The Biergarten will pour local brews from Big Noise, Paperback, and Common Space, with live tunes from The Rayford Bros. and raffle prizes rounding out the party. General admission is $10. Spooky Tea at The Culver Hotel (October 25 & 26) -> This weekend, the Culver Hotel transforms its signature afternoon tea into a hauntingly delightful experience. Served 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Grand Lobby and garden patio, Spooky Tea features ghost-shaped tea sandwiches, pumpkin and bat sugar cookies, autumn-inspired pastries, and mini cauldrons of candy and surprises. Classic Halloween films and a playlist including Monster Mash set a festive mood. Tea is $75 per person. Reservations are recommended.
