Saying – Kenan: Team: 03:00
H2H: 0-0
Wakana Sonobe vs Sofia Kenin kicks off our coverage. It’s back-to-back Japanese opponents for the American Sofia Kenin. Kenin had a solid match yesterday against Moyuka Uchijima, allowing her to win only four games in the entire match. Kenin dominated right from the jump and never allowed her opponent to settle in and take advantage of the home crowd. Sonobe, on the other hand, had an absolute slugfest with the highly favored Nikola Bartunkova. She came out on top in straight sets, but Bartunkova made her work for it. As her reward, Sonobe will, once again, be going up against a heavily favored opponent. Can she make it two in a row?
Best Bet to Make
Once again, the books are rolling with Kenin. I understand why, and I agree. I think Sonobe was fortunate to make it out of the first round. I refuse to degrade her efforts by calling it “luck,” but I won’t refuse to say that she will need a bit of luck to go with her effort against Kenin. Taking Kenin straight up will only bring you back about 130%, so I recommend taking her with a correct score of 2:0 for 1.84 on 1xBet. I would have suggested the under on 16.5, but that bet has been removed. This is essentially the same thing, just with a bit more leeway.
That being said, King winning is a value bet for sure.

Maybe – Lys: Time 05:00
H2H: 1-0
Victoria Mboko vs Eva Lys is another sneaky good match. In a meeting of two Top 50 players in the World, this tournament presents a fantastic chance for both women to make some noise before the year is over. Mboko has had a stunning year. She’s already won six tournament titles in 2025. Eva Lys is having a fine year herself, but she’s a bit short on tournament titles. The furthest she’s gone in any tournament is the quarterfinals, and she’s made just three of those this year. Headed into this match, it does feel like Lys has been a bit more battle-tested in this tournament.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Lys as the favorite. Lys, on average, is the favorite by about .4 points. I agree with this. I think Mboko is hitting a wall towards the end of the year. She’s played a lot of tennis this year, and seeing her lose four matches in a row without even winning a set says to me that she’s in much need of a break and a reset. While she’s been getting really tough opponents, she’s also been capable of hanging with them up until recently. Take Lys, but take her straight up. The value is there at 1.82 on Betfair.
That being said, Lys winning is a value bet for sure.

Shnaider – Kalinskaya: Time 06:30
H2H: 0-0
Diana Shnaider takes on Anna Kalinskaya in our featured match. Both women are ranked in the Top 50s of the World rankings. Shnaider steamrolled Dayana Yastremska in their match. It was 6-3, 6-1, and Shnaider looked much more comfortable than she had been entering. Shnaider really needed that victory, and now she’s going to face an opponent who has been struggling like her for much of the year. Kalinskaya is 6-4 in her last ten matches, and this is the furthest she’s ever gone at WTA Tokyo. Shnaider made the semifinal in 2024.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Shnaider winning, but this time, they’re a bit more confident in her. It’s easy to see why when you look at Kalinskaya’s year. She’s 22-19 overall, and only 13-12 on a hardcourt. She hasn’t won a tournament since 2023. Kalinskaya has also been injured three times this year, though none have kept her out for too long. Kalinskaya does have one final appearance on a hardcourt in 2025, but it came back in July at WTA Washington. While I’m confident in Shnaider, I think it would be wise to err on the side of caution. Take her straight up or play something like under 21.5 games at Betway for 2.0 or even under 22.5 games for 1.8 on Bet365.
That being said, Schneider winning is a value bet for sure.
